This policy explains what information KoiMeet collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please read it together with our Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
KoiMeet ("we", "us") operates the dating service at koimeet.com. You can contact us about privacy at support@koimeet.com.
2. Who can use KoiMeet
KoiMeet is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has an account, we will remove it.
3. Information we collect
• Account details: your email address and password (stored securely, we cannot read your password) and the name you choose.
• Profile information you provide: age, city and country, pronouns, bio, interests, what you are looking for, and how far away you would like to meet people.
• Photos you upload to your profile.
• Verification selfie: an optional private photo you send so our team can confirm you are real. It is never shown to other members.
• Activity in the app: who you like or pass on, your matches, the messages you send and receive, notifications, and when you were last active.
• Safety information: reports and blocks you make or that are made about you, moderation decisions, and records of actions taken by our team.
• Technical data such as your browser type and IP address, used to run and protect the service.
4. How we use your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for advertising.
• To create your account and show your profile to other adults on the service.
• To suggest people to you and to create a match only when you both like each other.
• To deliver messages between matches.
• To review photos and verification selfies and keep the community safe, including handling reports and enforcing our Terms.
• To send essential emails such as confirming your email address and resetting your password.
• To maintain, secure and improve the service, and to meet legal obligations.
5. What other members can see
Other members can see your name, age, city, bio, interests, what you are looking for, your approved photos and whether you are verified. They cannot see your email address, your verification selfie, your password, or who you have blocked or reported.
Messages are visible to you and the person you are chatting with. Our safety team may review a conversation only when it has been reported, flagged by our safety checks, or escalated for safety reasons.
6. Who we share information with
We use trusted service providers to run KoiMeet. They process data only to provide their service to us:
• Supabase, which hosts our database, user accounts, file storage and real-time messaging.
• Cloudflare, which delivers the website and protects it from attacks, and forwards our support email.
• An email delivery provider, used to send account emails.
7. When we may disclose information
We may share information if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect the safety of members or the public, or to investigate suspected abuse or illegal activity.
8. How long we keep information
• We keep your account information, photos and messages while your account is open.
• When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, matches, messages and verification selfie.
• We may keep limited records where needed to prevent abuse or meet legal duties, for example that an account was removed for breaking our rules.
9. Your choices and rights
• Edit your profile and photos at any time from the Profile tab.
• Delete your account from the Profile tab. This is permanent.
• Block or report any member from within the app.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will respect them.
10. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on our database so members can only reach their own private data, and private storage for verification selfies. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
11. International use
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure your information remains protected when it is transferred.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will let you know in the app or by email. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
